AILA’s Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
AILA Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement
AILA, consistent with its mission and goals, promotes full and equal participation of all members in chapters, committees and groups including lawyers of varying genders, national origins, racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientation and gender identity, religious beliefs, age, marital status, geographic location, and lawyers with disabilities.
AILA recognizes that the strength and success of the organization is due, in large part, to its diverse membership.
AILA is committed to continuing to increase the diversity of the membership, to expanding the diversity of access to leadership opportunities, and to assuring that the immigration bar reflects the society it serves.

Why Diversity Matters
As immigration law practitioners in a culturally diverse setting, we wear many "hats": lawyer, counselor, advocate, logistics expert, mentor, marketer, community leader, etc. When the number of hats we wear increases, so does the complexity of our area of law, the number of countries that have citizens interested in living and working in the United States, and thus our potential services and client base. In order to accomplish our goals in a constantly changing global community, being mindful of and taking action on ensuring diversity in the workforce will allow us to effectively practice and relate to our clients, co-workers and government adjudicators.
