Announcement of a Visa Restriction Policy Targeting Foreign Nationals Who Censor Americans

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced a new visa restriction policy targeting foreign nationals “responsible for censorship of protected expression in the United States.” The announcement further states that it is unacceptable for foreign officials to issue or threaten arrest warrants for U.S. citizens or residents for social media posts made while on U.S. soil, or to censor or restrict U.S. tech platforms to meet global content moderation standards.
