CBP Directive on Emergency Driving Including Vehicular Pursuits by CBP

CBP issued Directive Number 4510-26, effective 1/16/21, to establish CBP’s policy governing emergency driving including vehicle pursuits. It states that CBP may engage in and continue emergency driving, including a vehicle pursuit, “only when and for as long as the office/agent determines that the law enforcement benefit and need for emergency driving outweighs the immediate and potential danger created by such emergency driving.”
