DHS Announces Rescission of Romania’s Designation into VWP

On 5/2/25, DHS, in consultation with DOS, rescinded Romania’s Visa Waiver Program (VWP) designation effective immediately in order to “protect the integrity of the VWP and to ensure border and immigration security.” DHS stated that Romania may be reconsidered for VWP admission in the future if they meet the statutory eligibility criteria.
