District Court Stays 2025 IFR Leading to Fines Up to $1.8 Million

The Court stayed the 2025 IFR, “Imposition and Collection of Civil Penalties for Certain Immigration-Related Violations,” and associated fines while litigation continues. Under the rule, DHS could issue fines of up to $988 per day for failure to depart, resulting in fines of up to roughly $1.8 million for some individuals. (Maria L. v Mullin, 9/30/26)
