DOJ Notice Excluding Non-Qualified Immigrants from Federal Benefits

Attorney General Pamela Bondi issued a notice withdrawing a 1/5/01 order by the then-Attorney General excepting some programs from the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (PRWORA). Programs that fall within that category are only available to citizens and “qualifying aliens.”

AG Bondi has chosen not to except any Department of Justice benefits from PRWORA beyond those excepted by the statute itself. Comments are due 8/15/25. (90 FR 32023, 7/16/25)
