DOS Imposes Visa Restrictions on Nicaraguan Officials Associated with the Ortega-Murillo Regime

DOS Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that the United States has taken steps to impose visa restrictions on more than 250 additional Nicaraguan officials associated with the Ortega-Murillo regime. With this new set of restrictions, the U.S. government has taken steps to impose visa restrictions on over 2,000 officials in the Ortega-Murillo regime.

This action was taken pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 10309, which suspends entry into the United States as immigrants and nonimmigrants for members of the Government of Nicaragua and other individuals who formulate, implement, or benefit from policies or actions that undermine democratic institutions.
