DOS Practice Alert: E-Mail Communications with U.S. Embassy, New Delhi (Updated 7/6/11)

The DOS Liaison committee has received information from the Visa Office regarding the "intern" e-mail communications from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi. The Visa Office states these types of messages are consistent with "validation studies" where posts check on the status of previously issued visas in certain categories to check on compliance rates and review to identify any potential fraud concerns. These projects are done randomly where resources permit and are normally projects given to summer interns.

The DOS Liaison committee has received members' reports regarding "intern" e-mail communications from the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi and is acting to receive clarification from the State Department on this issue. Updates to follow asap.
