EOIR Releases Policy Memo on Updated Terminology Regarding Noncitizens

EOIR issued PM 21-27 after Executive Order 14012, clarifying that adjudicators should use language “[consistent] with our character as a Nation of opportunity and of welcome.” The memo includes terms to replace “alien,” “undocumented alien or illegal alien,” and “unaccompanied alien child” in EOIR.
