Executive Order Restricting Birthright Citizenship Based on Specific Parental and Location-Based Factors

On 8/6/26, the President issued Executive Order 14418 to deny birthright citizenship to children with a parent the government deems an “alien enemy”, foreign government employee, or to have paid to “access birthright citizenship”. It also would deny citizenship to children born in certain U.S. territories or waters where citizenship is not conferred by Federal statute.
