On April 27, 2016, Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chairs Representatives Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) and Keith Ellison (D-MN), along with Chairwoman Rep. Judy Chu (D-CA) of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus introduced a resolution to repeal specific provisions of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act (IIRAIRA) and the Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act (AEDPA) signed into law in 1996.
