Voluntary COVID-19 Testing at ICE Facilities

ICE announced that it has completed voluntary COVID-19 testing for all residents at the family residential centers (FRCs) in Dilley and Karnes County, Texas, and Leesport, Pennsylvania. ICE reported that all residents at the three facilities tested negative for the coronavirus. ICE also began offering tests to new admission at the FRCs at the beginning of June. Since testing at intake began at the Karnes facility, 14 individuals there have tested positive.


June 24, 2020

ICE announced that, as part of its efforts to expand COVID-19 testing capabilities, it tested all current detainees and new admissions at the Aurora Contract Detention Facility in Aurora, Colorado, and identified four positive COVID-19 cases as a result. The initial testing period took place from June 9 to June 18. ICE says that it will continue offering tests to all new admissions to the facility.


June 9, 2020

ICE announced that it has begun voluntary COVID-19 testing at the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, WA, and at the Aurora Contract Detention Facility in Aurora, CO, to all current detainees and new admissions. ICE plans to evaluate COVID-19 testing at these two locations before expanding to other facilities over the next several months.
