ICE Revises Policy on Notification and Reporting of Detainee Deaths
ICE Directive 11003.5, dated October 25, 2021, revises certain responsibilities and supersedes previous directives on this topic. Among other things, it adds a requirement that the Office of Detention Ombudsman be notified of a detainee death and puts a mechanism in place for potential additional review for deaths occurring within 30 days of release from ICE.
