INS on H-1B Usage for Fiscal Year 1994

This information is provided to you for informational purposes and may be distributed to the public upon request. As you know, the Immigration Act of 1990 (IMMACT) imposed an annual 65,000 numerical cap on the H-1B classification. As of July 1, 1994, the INS had approved 47,590 H-1B petitions for this fiscal year. The number reflects new approvals only and not extensions of stay.

Headquarters will monitor closely the usage throughout the fourth quarter. Should the H-1B usage approach the 65,000 cap, you will be advised of appropriate information to provide the public.
