In Memoriam: Juan P. Osuna: A Remembrance

AILA mourns the passing of Juan P. Osuna, former Executive Director of the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR). Mr. Osuna had a distinguished career in the immigration field, serving as editor of Interpreter Releases for several years before entering public service with the Board of Immigration Appeals, rising to the position of Chair of the BIA. Mr. Osuna held several positions within the Office of the Attorney General in the Department of Justice, rising to Associate Deputy Attorney General, with responsibility for DOJ’s immigration portfolio. Most recently, Mr. Osuna served until May 2017 as EOIR’s Executive Director. Mr. Osuna was a regular speaker at AILA Annual Conferences and at AILA Spring CLEs. He was a dynamic, thoughtful and caring man of enormous intellect and insight.
