P.L. 115-254: FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018
On 10/5/18, President Trump signed into law the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2018. The bill has some immigration-related provisions, including making a small change to the text of the INA.
Highlights:
- Section 573 amends INA §286(i) to authorize the Attorney General to seek reimbursement from the owner, operator, or agent of a train or from a railway authority for expenses incurred in providing immigration inspection services.
- Section 1238 authorizes the president, in consultation with the governor of a state, to provide a fee waiver for certain immigration-related forms to people affected by major disasters.
- Section 1919 requires TSA and CBP to assess how biometric technologies could address instances of travelers to the United States overstaying their visas.
