On 11/06/07, Representative Heath Shuler (D-NC) introduced the "Secure America Through Verification and Enforcement Act of 2007" (H.R. 4088). The “SAVE Act” calls for immigration reform through enhanced border security, stricter enforcement of existing immigration laws, and widespread use of an employer verification program.
A companion bill (S.2368) was introduced in the Senate on 11/15/07 by Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR).
