Take Action: Congress Must Hold the Executive Branch Accountable for Systemic Attack on Immigration Courts
7/22/25
AILA Doc. No. 25031106.
The Department of Justice continues to undermine the integrity of the U.S. immigration courts. On July 11, 17 immigration judges were abruptly fired, adding a growing number of unexplained terminations. At the same time, new policies from the Executive Office for Immigration Review have eroded judicial independence, forced judges to rush through complex cases, and enabled ICE to carry out arrests in court. The budget reconciliation bill adds to these harms by introducing new immigration-related fees, including a minimum asylum application fee, without a functioning payment system. Take action by demanding Congressional oversight and holding the Executive Branch accountable for its systemic attacks on the immigration courts.
