Think Immigration: A Step Toward a Better Way on Immigration
Every day, AILA members work directly with families, employers, and community members to navigate the complex and often frustrating immigration system. On April 16 more than 300 AILA members from 34 chapters will step into the halls of Congress for AILA’s National Day of Action and meet with congressional delegations to elevate community voices and advocate for policies that treat people with dignity and deliver 21st-century solutions.
This year, our core pillars focus on
- Pillar 1: Accountable, Fair and Lawful Immigration Enforcement
- Pillar 2: Strengthen the Economy and Modernize the Legal Immigration System
- Pillar 3: Strengthen Communities Through a Pathway to Permanent Status for People Who Are Undocumented or In Limbo Status
You can learn more about AILA’s core pillars, legislative asks, and endorsed bills, on the National Day of Action page.
During National Day of Action, our members will go beyond the headlines and media soundbites that often dominate the immigration debate. They will share practical stories about clients affected by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) delays, the harmful impact that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) actions have had on local communities and economies. They will share the stories of families separated by enforcement actions near schools, workplaces, and day care centers, causing fear across the country.
