In Memoriam: Tribute to Leon Rosen
LEON ROSEN, who served as AILA National President in 1972-1973, passed away on January 2, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada at age 90.
A graduate of William & Mary College and the NYU School of Law. He proudly served in World War II as a bombardier with the 20th Air Force and flew many missions over Japan. He was highly regarded as a talented immigration lawyer and was beloved by his colleagues and clients for his enthusiasm and constant good cheer.
As one of the early founders of the immigration bar, he served as National President at a time when doing so required him to actually carry on the operations of a complete bar association out of his own office, when most of the Association’s membership practiced in the New York and Philadelphia area. He endeared himself to his colleagues and to new members of AILA as they joined from cities throughout the country. He made an enormous contribution over many years of active practice at the immigration bar.
