USCIS Announces New Edition of Form I-485 Effective 9/18/26

USCIS announced that it will publish a revised edition of Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, on 9/18/26 to align with the final rule on the public charge ground of inadmissibility. Beginning 9/18/26, USCIS will reject old editions of the form with no grace period.

As a reminder for members considering an online filing of Form I-485 before September 18, myUSCIS filings for Form I-485 should not be filed at the last minute as the myUSCIS online account system uses Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) for dates of filing. Additionally, it is important to remember the Form I-485 may only be filed in myUSCIS as a PDF upload only, thus it will take time to get uploaded and processed by the myUSCIS system.
