USCIS Deploys SAVE Tools to Verify Voters

5/22/25 AILA Doc. No. 25052704.

USCIS updated the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program to ensure a single source for verifying immigration status and U.S. citizenship. State and local authorities can input Social Security numbers to help verify citizenship and prevent noncitizens from voting in elections.

A new partnership with the Social Security Administration allows cases to verify citizenship or immigration status to be created using Social Security numbers rather than a DHS identifying number, which most state and local agencies do not collect. Also, agencies can now submit more than one case at a time. Effective 4/1/25, USCIS eliminated all charges for state, local, tribal, and territorial government agencies to use SAVE.
