USCIS to Issue Final Rule Rescinding 2022 Public Charge Regulation

USCIS announced a final rule to rescind the 2022 regulation on public charge determinations, which instructed USCIS officers to consider specific public benefits in such determinations. The change will give DHS officers "broader discretion" when evaluating applicants' likelihood to become a public charge. The rule will be published in the Federal Register on 7/17/26.
