On 11/23/16, AILA sent this letter to President Obama urging that his administration rescind the regulation creating the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEERS).

On 11/23/16, AILA joined the H-2B Workforce Coalition in urging the Senate Appropriation Committee to reinstate the H-2B returning worker exemption in the continuing resolution that is currently being drafted and slated to run through 3/31/17. The exemption expired on 9/30/16.

Sign-On Letter to DHS Secretary Johnson Condemning the Escalating Detention Rates
On 10/31/16, AILA joined 230 organizations in condemning DHS’ record-level immigration detention rates, as well as ICE contract renewal with a private prison company for a family detention center. The group requested a meeting with DHS Secretary Johnson to discuss these concerns and recommendations.
AILA and the Council Letter to Secretary Johnson on Re-Designating TPS for Haiti
AILA and the American Immigration Council wrote to Secretary Jeh Johnson to oppose DHS’s plan to resume normal deportations to Haiti; and urged the administration to provide humanitarian relief in a number of ways including re-designating Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
