Amicus Committee

3/17/23 AILA Doc. No. 16072892.

The AILA Amicus Committee vets requests for AILA to participate as amicus curiae in cases of national or regional importance to the immigration community. The committee generally prepares and files amicus briefs in cases that will set or impact precedent before the circuit courts of appeals, the Supreme Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, the Administrative Appeals Office, the Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals, and other bodies. The committee meets telephonically throughout the year, during which each committee member reports on the status of active cases in their circuit to identify litigation trends, and highlight other relevant issues.
