DHS Announces Rule for Certain U.S.-Born Children of Foreign Government Employees to Become LPRs
DHS announced an upcoming interim final rule to allow certain children born in the U.S. with one or more parent employed by a foreign government to register as lawful permanent residents, in accordance with Exectutive Order 14418. This expands on existing regulations for children of foreign diplomatic officers. DHS also amended Form I-485 to reflect the change. An advance copy of the rule, which will be published in the Federal Register on 9/9/26, is available.
